Description

"Seventeen days? Hey man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen hours! Those things are gonna come in here just like they did before. And they're gonna come in here... and they're gonna come in here AND THEY'RE GONNA GET US!" (Hudson in "Aliens", 1986)

Yeah!!! Tyrannopendra is finally finished! :w00t:
This damn beast has cost me a month of my life. My first 3D-creature with eyes and legs... a lot of eyes and a lot of even more legs, indeed ;-)

Modeled, sculpted and textured in good old Hexagon 2.5
Rigged in DAZ-Studio 3 Advanced with the Skeleton-Setup and Figure Setup Tool
Bones count = 313
Polycount = 139506
Textures+Bumpmaps = 3 material-zones with 3 UV-maps in 4096x4096 px. each:
Head, Bodysegments and Legs, and Mandibles and Antennas.

Tested in:
DAZ-Studio 3.1.2.32 Advanced Edition, 64 Bit
DAZ-Studio 4.0.3.47 Pro Edition, 64 Bit
DAZ-Studio 4.5.1.6 Pro Edition, 64 Bit
Poser 9.0.3.23027, 32 Bit

More Infos in the "readme.pdf" that comes with the file.

Known issues: In Poser 9 the last pair of legs may displayed slightly distorted in the joints. I scaled the leg-elements of the last pair of legs up to 150% to made them longer. It seems, Poser 9 didn't liked this: Click on Parameters and change the zScale for all leg-elements from 150% to 100% to remove the distortions. (But after running the Poser 9 Service Release 3.1 update this problem didn't occur anymore on my system).

Update Sept. 5, 2012: Update from Version 1.0 to Version 1.1. Adding of a further morph to the head for open/close its mouth. This is a minor modification and the morph did not work very convincing, but you can now put some severed off prey-parts (arms, legs) between its jaws :evillaugh:
To update from V 1.0 to V 1.1 you have only to exchange the file Tyrannopendra.cr2 in your folder Runtime -> libraries -> character -> Tyrannopendra

Update Nov. 23, 2012: Update from Version 1.1. to Version 1.2: In Poser the seams of the textures became visible as thin white lines when rendering smaller pictures of the Tyrannopendra. I thought, i get rid off this known problem already by adding some "overlapping" of the textures and this overlapping was sufficent for DAZ-Studio, but unfortunately not enough for Poser, so i add some more overlapping now to all texture-seams again.
