I build this case for my Thompson Submachine Gun in 2006. In reality it was only a urban legend, that the gangsters of the 1920s and 1930s carried their "Chicago Typewriters" in modified violin cases, but i thought, it was a damn cool urban legend and so i tried to build such a case for "Nagaina II", my own Thompson Submachine Gun Mod. 1928A1.
I bought the old, used violin case at eBay for a few euros and rebuild it with some wood-pieces and green felt to my desired Tommy Gun-case. In the area for the compartment for the vertical foregrip the woodworms had already damaged the violin-case and i had to strengthen it there with some wood. The result is the a little bit weird shape of this compartment.
As you can see, the case is not really suitable for a fast draw and fire on your enemies as it was shown in many movies. The gun fit only in with removed buttstock and vertcal foregrip.
Material: Old violin case, stripped down and new build up with small wood-boards, hot gluesticks, green felt and wood-glue.
