Description

The DAMNADAS Corp. is proudly presenting an insight-view into the hard work of our fearless field research-teams who are constantly travel all corners of the world to search for fossils of interesting predators for our genetic engineers to reconstruct, or, even better, living cryptids... This time we want to introduce you to Dr. Susan Chantall who re-discovered the awesome Megalania prisca aka Varanus priscus in the hot and dusty Australian outback for us. As one of our most avid field-scientists she did not only discovered a living specimen, but made a lot of further amazing discoveries just in the first few minutes after her discovery. As she took some photos of the giant reptile she let it approach too close to her and suddenly she found all her former published theories confirmed:

... as this creatures grow tree times -or even more- larger than the known Komodo dragon, it's possible it can even sprint faster. Komodo Dragons can catch up a human victim in a short sprint of about 30 to 50 meters. I assume, that Megalania prisca would consider the same range for a successful attack on human prey.
Komodo Dragons are capable to devour prey up to the size of a goat whole. Their loosely articulated jaws, flexible skulls, and expandable stomachs allow them to swallow prey whole. A Megalania prisca would be surely accept humans as natural prey and would be able to do the same with a hunted down human. And, as i presume, devouring it even alive to safe energy, lubricating its wriggling prey with secreting a high amount of slippery saliva and gulping it down in about a minute...
(Dr. Susan Chantall, "Real Dragons: Man-eating giant reptiles of the present and ancient times", DAMNADAS-Press, 2035)

A second member of her team took this photo as Dr. Chantall started to do a really deep and interesting investigation of the digestive systems of this awesome predator. When we finally catched the beast two days later we found out that digestion took about five days... and the remains of Dr. Chantall came back to the daylight on its natural way. Susan's indigestible remains, mainly some of her larger bones and the partially dissolved remains of her clothing and shoes, are now, cleaned and assorted, presented on public display in our creature-museum... We know that would be her own wish too! Thank you very much, Susan, from the DAMNADAS-crew! This was really a great discovery and we appreciate your intensive work to found out more!

Update Jul. 20, 2013: I got a lot of questions about Megalania prisca... It is basically this model: www.contentparadise.com/produc…
But i "kitbashed" it extensively and made a lot of modifications in Hexagon on it, added a smoothing-modifier, improved the rigging, made a bumpmap and created a lot of new morphs and texture-details. The tongue is new made from scratch too and available here as an independent Poser-model: fav.me/d5z8wl4

For further research, I would like to conduct an experiment if digestion varies with outside temperature. Would digestion be faster in hotter climates and slow in cold climates? Or will the results be neutral? Also, I'm a small girl so I think that the creature will digest me quickly.
